PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

I bet every amateur photographer always looks up to the professional photographers and thinks, I wish I could do something like that. But how do they do it! I don’t want to get a expensive camera. How do I do it on my own?

Well here are a few things you can do with a digital or point and shoot camera! All these photos were taken with one!

Well here are a few tips to find that perfect thing. There are a few things that you have to do, but they aren’t very hard.

  1. Look (search around your backyard, just look.)
  2. Be Ready (have your camera be ready for a shot, make sure you have it when you are going somewhere where you might want it.)
  3. Don’t Give Up (a lot of your shots will probably turn out fuzzy or wrong at first, but don’t give up, you’ll get that shot someday.)

TIPS AND HINTS

Here are a few tips and hints that might help you with your photos. First, cropping (how close do you really get?) Second, angle (down, up, sideways, what angle makes your shot look the best?) Third, background (dark, light, which one?) Fourth, ISO, exposure, white balance (all these controls are confusing me!)

CROPPING

When you take a photo, you want to know which is the best close-up. You can do this in many ways, zoom, cropping or walking. You can zoom in, crop with effects on your camera or computer software (most computers have a simple software that had simple effects), or you can get up close. Here are some examples of close-up.

You can’t really see the bird but it has no noise and some detail, you see a lot of the story, but it depends on what you want.

This is my favorite because you see the birds detail but also some of the story.

You take on a little grain and noise but you see the bird close up.

A really god way to figure out what is the best is take the photo from a good distance and crop it If you want the photo un effected and shown the exact way it was taken think about these things: will you be able to see the thing? Will it look grainy? Will it tell the story I want it to tell? Just thing about that and you might come up with a pretty good image. But always keep trying!

ANGLE

What is the best angle? That is another question a lot of photographers ask. Well you could go down, up sideways many directions. Its sort of like trying to head home the fastest way, south, north, east or west? Well here are a few examples and you can decide. But remember it all really depends on the photo.

Here all you see is the pigs butt, interesting right? :l

I like the last two because they make the pig look more appealing. The one at the bottom shows the whole pig, and the one second to last makes you feel that the pig is somewhat special, because it’s on higher ground than you. But most of these aren’t good and I can’t blame you if they didn’t help you. It’s hard to use a pig for an angle lesson.

BACKGROUND

Background is an important part of a picture. It brings it all together. Here are some examples.

This makes the coins look to dark, but it still good.

This is my point of view brings together the coins because most of them are already dark and it goes together with the while background.

SETTINGS

If you want your photos to look good you might want to try manual settings on the camera. Auto isn’t always right. Here is what each one is:

ISO: ISO is what you can do for dark or lighter places to balance out the light. Like you might want a high ISO setting for a dark place.

EXPOSURE: exposure is for film cameras. It is the amount of light allowed to fall on the film.

APERTURE: aperture is the amount of space that is opened in the lens. You write the different apertures but here is one example f/8.

WHITE BALANCE: the color or light in a room and it helps the cameras light be more natural.

These are some of the simple settings on a digital point and shoot camera. They become harder and more of them come in when you get a DSLR camera. But settings help your light become more natural so they help your photos look good.

Well…I hope the article helped with your camera shooting. If you have any questions just ask!
