Another World

Remember how we used to play?

By the water every day?

And how we’d watch the boats go by?

Say we would be friends till we die?

but now I’m old and I watch the boats pass

Of life and death, all to fast

Remember how we’d laugh at the people walking near?

We’d laugh until my gut hurt and you had a tear?

Oh, and how the snow would fall on a light winter night?

Or how we’d play in the lake long past night?

  1. When I was five, my sister joined the Navy. Someone gave me a snow globe with a tiny statue of a WAVE inside, she was even blond like my sister. This really brought back memories. Did you write this beautiful poem because of your experiences? Melancholy.
